On the way home we stopped at Power Farming to find out how my little tractor was getting on. Bad news was that it had overheated, warped the block and blown the head gasket, due, said Phil, to a faulty thermostat being stuck closed. He plans to contact the manufacturer to see if they’ll pay towards the (undoubtedly mighty expensive) repair – which will take a week or more.

Shopping later and as we went down the drive we saw a little black kitten frolic ahead of us and disappear into the undergrowth. We wonder if it could become domesticated and be our outside cat in residence.

Meticulous Maids came in the afternoon and cleaned the cottage.

I heard from Gill that some bad actors had charged her credit card with amounts totalling around $8000, and today she’s unsure as to how she will get the money back. Gill certainly has no idea how they got hold of her card number nor why the bank didn’t stop the card after the first few overseas transactions from an unknown source – the banks seem over-eager to stop your card should you dare to travel overseas without notifying them first.
