A good day for working inside so, apart from our walk round the orchard with Bangle, getting some fruit for Bridget, and locking all the vehicle gates and checking the sheep troughs, that’s what we did.

Karola, with a little help, brought back the trundle bed from the homestead and returned it to under the mother-ship bed upstairs in the cottage.

I counted over a dozen Pukeko under the big oak, squabbling as usual, and there were another 7 – 10 in the Totara paddock – far far too many. And still plenty of rabbits, not to mention the pigeons in the Canary Island palm, whose numbers have risen sharply recently.

Karola has contacted Karl and he’ll pop in and make sure the sheep are alright while we’re away.

Karola is almost packed for the trip to Wellington at the weekend, I have barely started so it’s going to be a scramble tomorrow – SwimGym then Bangle to the salon by 10:30am, GF bread pickup, finish packing, and then off we (hope to) go, picking up Bangle at 12:30pm, all washed and combed, on the way. Well it’s in the opposite direction so it doesn’t really matter if we come back afterwards to finish getting ready. Karola got the Subaru all safe and legal so we can take it rather than the landrover – which is surprisingly uncomfortable to drive long distance.
