Elm Doorstep For Garage
This rather gorgeous door step was made by “PJ” of Steads from a small baulk of Karola’s elm. As Tony Page said, the grain is marvelous and this bodes well for having the kitchen benches made of a lamination of the same wood.
Yesterday we didn’t have a cottage garage roller door. Today we do.
The electrical wiring is proceeding well. Electrician John pointed out that there were only enough wires going underground across to the garage to provide power and lighting inside the garage, and for the water pump at the well head. As there isn’t enough rom in the conduits laid underground we’ll put this extra wire, for the two-way switched exterior lights, up, inconspicuously, along the walkway soffit.

I booked a Sky technician to come on Monday afternoon and do a $50 “relo” – relocate our Sky TV decoder and a dish to the cottage. They always put up a new dish and leave the old one where it was to attract additional customers. Allegedly, I have been told, this “relo” will give us a new dish mounted on the cottage and an aerial cable from there to the Sky decoder; that”s why I’m doing it now before the GIB is up so the cable can go inside the walls.
Looked at 1000s of light fittings in the books lent by architect Les last night; still don’t really see anything I like. Maybe I’ll go back to the type of wall lamp Karola had in Yeoman’s Drove in Winchester; I got used to that.
